Commerce Apps Highlighted at APPNATION III

On November 30th the San Francisco Design Center hosted the third international, AppNation conference focusing on social and mobile apps across multiple devices and platforms. Companies leading the apps value chain participated, including Facebook, Google, Microsoft, PayPal, Walmart, Verizon, AT&T, and of course, American Express.

Devaraj Southworth, VP of Online & Mobile Product Strategy, Partnerships, was invited to speak about Serve’s capabilities and provide industry insights during the Getting Paid: a(PP) Commerce Best Practices panel. Devaraj introduced Serve, a next-generation digital payments and commerce platform, and highlighted real use cases, such as Serve’s group peer-to-peer payment integration with Ticketmaster.

“One of the things Ticketmaster has noticed was that when a customer buys concert tickets for a group of people, that customer is often lost at the end of the purchase process once they see the total cost,” said Devaraj Southworth. “Once Serve is integrated in the purchase path, group purchases will become a reality and will dramatically improve the checkout process.”

A lively discussion followed, with panelists from American Express, PayPal, BilltoMobile, and TheFind. Devaraj shared the benefits of Serve’s upcoming Bill My Phone functionality that will streamline the checkout of physical and virtual goods for users via their personal cell phone numbers. When asked about efforts to perfect the Serve sign-up process, Devaraj highlighted plans to pre-populate application data fields to make sign up even faster for new users.

Serve’s continued participation in tech and innovation conferences has been a major factor in helping to grow excitement around our product. As we look forward to 2012 users will see new product enhancements come to fruition and through our partnerships they will be able to take advantage of ease and simplification that Serve provides.
